Ariel is a native English speaker from the United States. She first came to the Czech Republic in 2013 where she studied in Prague for a semester as an exchange student. In 2014 she graduated with a BA in mathematics and decided to return to Prague. She took a course to become certified to teach English but was fortunate enough to find a position teaching mathematics at a bilingual school in Ostrava.
Over the past seven years, she has lived and worked in both Ostrava and Brno, but last year decided that it was time to return to Prague. After spending a year working for a travel company, Ariel felt that there was something missing in her life. She has a passion for teaching and the year off helped her to realize that her purpose is working with children. Her goal is to help children learn to love mathematics from a young age by teaching them to understand the basic concepts during their early years in school. She does not want any student to struggle learning math the way that she did in her primary school years.
Ariel is currently working on her master’s degree in International Education to learn even more about creating student-centered learning environments and building bridges between cultures. She strives to create a safe place for children to grow and discover their identity. She believes that helping students become emotionally intelligent is just as important as becoming academically intelligent.
